Depression is not just "feeling blue," and it is not a sign of weakness. People with depression can have many different symptoms.

Depression has many signs, or symptoms:
Common Symptoms
• Sadness throughout the day, nearly every day• Fatigue or lack of energy
• Loss of interest in, or enjoyment of, your favorite activities• Sleeping too much or too little
• Feelings of worthlessness• Change in appetite or weight
• Excessive or inappropriate feelings of guilt• Trouble concentrating
• Thoughts of death or suicide• Restlessness
• Trouble making decisions• Feeling slowed down

Talk to a doctor if both of the following occur:

• Sadness or loss of interest close to every day for at least two weeks
• At least four other signs from the list above during the same two weeks
